What is PAN Registration?


A permanent account number (PAN) is a ten-character alphanumeric identifier issued by the Indian Income Tax Government in the form of a laminated "PAN card" to any "person" who applies for it or to whom the department allots it without an application.

Under the Indian Income Tax Act, 1961, a PAN is a unique identity assigned to all judicial organisations. Section 139A of the Income Tax Act provides for the issuance of a personal identification number (PAN) and its associated card. It is issued by the Indian Income Tax Department, which is overseen by the Central Board for Direct Taxes (CBDT), and it also functions as a form of identification.A PAN is necessary for filing income tax returns.

  Procedure to be Followed

  • PAN requests are accepted on behalf of NSDL. On behalf of your customer or applicants, you can download PAN applications from the NSDL website and fill out the form online.
